About the Artist

My name is Marsha Filipiak and I am a self taught stained glass artist.  My stained glass designs are not just your "traditional" variety glass, I have always tried to create unique items.   My Studio and residence is in Royal Oak, Michigan USA, a suburb of  Detroit.   I have been involved in stained glass since 1979.  During the early years I had a full time secretarial job and did my glass designing on the side.  In l984 as the demand grew for my work, I quit my job to start my own business. My husband Dennis became involved in 1995 as the business grew and we worked as a team.

I work with interior designers and local cabinet makers to customize stained glass art for all rooms of your home.   Working in whimsical and contemporary styles, examples of my original innovations are stained glass valances for your windows, and matted and framed three-dimensional abstract designs in glass to hang on your walls.  I also provide my customers with a line of reasonably priced items for gift giving such as picture frames, jewelry boxes, candle holders, and more. 

During the summer months I market my work throughout Michigan at the major fine art fairs.  This provides me with the opportunity to meet and talk with the people who purchase my work. I also have my work at a few galleries and shops in Michigan such as Catching Fireflies in Berkley and Rochester, MI and Orchard Gallery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
